The Wrong Kind of Right

When I first met you, it was fate,

Thinking of it now makes me hate.

Hate what you’ve done,

Hate knowing I should of won.

You made me laugh, you made me smile,

Haven’t done that in a while.

What the hell went wrong?

Did you feel you didn’t belong?

What happened?

You came back so different, so out of place,

The history of us is now erased.

Why didn’t I see it coming, why couldn’t I help you,

The drinking, the drugs, what could I do?

God I loved your arms which held me tight,

But now they dangle over the bed tonight.

Seeing the needle marks in your arm,

Not being able to remember your charm.

This secret I hold forever,

Me telling our story, never.

What happened?

That night I said goodbye,

Forever I will cry.

I’ll erase all the memories,

But you visit me in my sleep.

I try to let go of your touch, your love,

But that will never be enough.

You’ll always stay in my head,

And never will I love again.

I wish I could still call you my friend…

What happened?

Now I’ll just move along,

Nothing matters when you’re gone.

And time makes it so much harder,

I wish I never would remember.

But that last kiss,

I will always cherish.

Maybe someday we’ll meet again,

And just forget what happened.

You made me feel once more,

But now I‘m hollow like before.

So it’s you I will never forget,

And it’s you who was never a regret.

Our love I will never deny,

You were just a wrong kind of right.
