Man, Woman and Child
Once there was a man…
Who looked for a woman
To ease his daily grind
And leave some of his pressures behind.
Once there was a woman…
With a bold, freckle-faced child
Who looked for a man
To nurture, love and to hold.
Once in August…
A friendship is found
They laughed and danced among the stars
With Rock & Roll abound.
The friendship blossomed into love
For her it was almost immediate
For him, he wasn't so sure
Fear was not his cure.
Weeks turned into months
Months into years
Man, woman and child
The love grew
Yet they still shed the tears.
They loved the ocean
They loved playing cards
He loved football and
She loved Little League
And the child, well…
The child just simply loved.
Holidays, Ball Games and Birthdays
Still wondering
What is our fate
Still trying to find their way
After all of the years.
They loved their family
Yet it was not one
She had strife with his Mother
She tried to hide her pain
And his Mother eventually won.
The man's Mother so loved him
She didn't want to share
The gift that she'd given the world
And he was not allowed to care.
The love, the friendship, the song
Which was once strong
Began to limp along.
The woman carries her guilt and shame
Of their "unborn" treasures
Who only wanted to show themselves to the
world
Perhaps this has to be her badge of courage
That will help her move on.
The man carries his confusion
For he is so torn
He relished the idea
But he is never sworn.
Once became a woman…
Who loved a man
She wondered where the time went
While yearning for a family
She knows it would have been God sent.
Once became a man…
Who loved a woman
And learned so much
Yet it seemed it was still out of touch.
Once became a boy…
Who is no longer a baby
He grew to love a man
The man who loved his Mommy.
Once in May…
There was a woman and her boy
They will always love each other
And the bond they share
They will relish in the memories
And will always care.
They root for OU now and forever
And of course,
Love.
